Fire in Sluice Room at Martlet Road, Minehead

Fire control received a call reporting a fire alarm sounding at a home in Minehead.
On arrival the crew from Minehead requested a 2nd appliance as it was confirmed there was a fire at the property.
The escalated attendance to this property meant a further 2 appliances from Minehead and Porlock along with an aerial appliance from Bridgwater and an officer were mobilised. 
At 18:53 it was reported from scene that they were treating this incident as a persons reported incident so a further appliance from Williton was mobilised. 
An ambulance was requested for 2 casualties with smoke inhalation.
The 3 storey care home of standard construction had a fire involving the sluice machine in the first floor sluice room. Fire crews used 6 breathing apparatus sets, 1 attack jet, 1 safety jet and 2 thermal imaging cameras. 20 residents were evacuated by fire personnel and care staff and a further 13 residents remained in situ at safety within the home. The sluice was 50% destroyed by fire, the room of origin was 100% damaged by heavy smoke and the first floor had minor smoke damage.
